What is a Virtual Domain?

A Virtual Domain means having your own domain name (http://www.your-name.com) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With a Virtual Domain, you utilize our server's storage space, however you are still professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address domain name (www.your-name.com) and by your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com).

You should check our "WHOIS" service to make sure that your desired domain name is available.

Can I access my domain address with or without the "www"?

Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: [http://www.your-name.com] or [http://your-name.com] is acceptable, whichever you prefer.

Do you offer dial-up Internet access?

No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your web site and retrieve email addressed to your site. There are many places to get dialup services, many of which are even free. If you have questions concerning your current Internet access, and whether or not it will comply with AllWebCo's web services, please contact us via e-mail.

Do you handle the domain registration process?

Yes. We will be more than happy to register your domain name for you at only 25.00 per year (a great savings over InterNIC, who charge 70.00 for the first two years, and 35.00 per year thereafter) or if you are moving an existing domain name to our servers from another host, see the next section for more details.

Can I transfer existing domain name to your servers?

Yes, just be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain. If you are moving your site to our servers from another hosting company, you will need to change the DNS (domain name server) entries for your domain name. (sometimes referred to as NameServer entries) NOTE: You should first upload your site's current pages and files to the IP address you received from us when you ordered. You do not want to change your NameServer entries until you have finished this, because your domain name will point to a site with no pages, causing down-time for your site. (an IP address can be used like a domain name, so you'll upload your pages using that, and then when the NameServers are changed, your domain name will point to your new site with us.)

At the end of the 72 hours you should verify that you've been switched over, and then contact your previous host to have them delete the old domain from their records and update their DNS record. If you use this same provider for your Internet access you will not be able to access your domain site until they update their DNS.

How long does it take before my domain name is active?

If we register your new domain name, it should be ready in about 24 hours, but may take up to 48 hours to show up on the net. It can take up to 72-hours before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location.

How do I transfer files to my web site ?

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP) or Telnet. If you need FTP, telnet, mail, or other Internet software, visit Shareware.com. Shareware.com is a source for the latest Internet applications with ratings and reviews to help you decide which application is best suited for your needs. An FTP tutorial is also available for beginner users who may not be familiar with FTP. You should also visit our customer service desk for our manual, tutorials, and more on how to get started.

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages ?

You have unlimited access via FTP and Telnet 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.

Can I use my account for commercial purposes ?

Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available to the users of the Internet community and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.

How long does it take to set up a new account ?

New accounts are generally set up within 24 hours from the time we receive your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your user-ID, password, and FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately. If you do NOT receive this information within 24 hours, please let us know, as the odds are, you have entered your email address incorrectly on the order form, and we cannot contact you!

Domain account users will be given a temporary URL (IP address) to access their site via the web prior to the completion of either domain registration or domain modification.

Can I subdivide my space and resell it?

Yes, we do allow you to create subdirectories which you can use to offer friends or clients space as long as its within our policy guidlines. You can also request additional FTP accounts with limited access to a specific directory for a small additional charge. (http://www.allwebco.com/add-ons.shtml)

Can I have additional domains pointing to the same main page as my main domain?

Yes, for a one time 35.00 setup fee for each additional domain we can mirror your main web pages and mail system. This is a great way to expand the marketing of your present business, and double your exposure on the search engines!

Are third level domains available (anyname.mydomain.com)?

Yes, We can give you a third level domain name such as yourname.allwebco.com or if you have a existing domain with us anyname.yourdomain.com. The packages are the same as the one posted for normal domains, the advantage to these is that registration is not needed. This means no registration fees. You can also park third level domain names, just like other domain names. (see above)

What's the difference between a POP account, and an email alias?

By default, your account is setup to receive all emails sent to anything@yourdomain.com in the main pop email box of your account, which by default is yourdomain@yourdomain.com

You do not have to edit anything to accomplish this. The difference between a pop account and an email alias, is that a pop account has its own login and password. An alias simply forwards to somewhere else. As described above, any alias not specifically told to forward elsewhere is automatically forwarded to the main pop account of yourdomain@yourdomain.com

How can I change my domain name?

We're sorry, but we can not change a domain name. The only way to accomplish this would be to get a new account, move your files over from the old account, and then cancel your old account.

You can do this with no setup fee on the new account, if you put in the comments section of the order form "changing domain names from yourcurrentdomain.com - do not charge setup" and we'll make sure you're not charged for it.

Since we bill on (or about) the 15th, if you order the new account and copy your files over, and cancel your old domain before the 15th, then you won't be charged for two domains. (If you think this might be a problem, you should wait until the 18th or so to order, to give yourself an entire month to copy files over and cancel the old account) If you order a new account, and fail to cancel the old one, you will be charged for two accounts!

Alternatively, you can register the new name (for only 25.00!) by clicking here and then park that name on to yourcurrentdomain.com (order that here for a one time fee of 35.00) so that no matter which name the visitor types into their browser, they will still go to your site. You will also receive all the email from anything@yournewdomain.com in your main box at yournewdomain@yournewdomain.com, however, you will not be able to forward particular address@yournewdomain to anywhere, or use autoresponders, etc... but it will allow you to give out that url for your site, and also to list it in the search engines (double your exposure!)

Your prices are all in U.S. dollars, how much is that in my currency?

All of our packages are priced in United States currency, however, you can easily find out how much it would be in your particular currency by clicking on the url (web address) below. (remember to use the back button on your browser to get back here)
